Register For Your Library Card

Residents of the Town of Essex may apply for a Homecard which enables them to access the physical collections of all libraries participating in the Homecard system. Essex Free patrons also have access to all of Essex Free Library's digital resources. Please visit the library to register for a card. You may also register remotely by completing the below form. Due to a recent change in Vermont library confidentiality laws, we require that patrons between the ages of 12 and 15 visit the library in person to obtain their card.

In addition to the registration form, first time registrants must provide the library with an ID or other proof of residence: a lease, bill, postmarked mail, etc. If applying remotely, please email a photo or scan of your proof of residence to essexfreelibraryvt@gmail.com. Proof of residence documents will be disposed of once your address is confirmed.

If applying remotely, a physical card will be made for you, which you may pick up at your convenience. To use our library and our online resources, a physical card is not necessary, but if you visit other libraries they may require it in order to check materials out to you. Upon registering, we will forward you your library card barcode number and other details.

Please contact the library if you need any assistance with the registration process.

Registration Form (Ages 16 and up). Patrons Aged 12-15 must register in person.
